According to a Todd Starnes article the above picture is a drawing by a middle school student in California’s Santa Rita School District, that was deemed offensive by the art teacher there. Right away we here at laughter and liberty decided something smelled a little fishy. That picture was drawn by a MIDDLE SCHOOL student?

wait…. so that picture was drawn by a THIRTEEN YEAR OLD??? I mean, I realize not everyone is a very good artist but a 13 year old supposedly drew that picture? That looks like something my 8 year old would have drawn, and I even think she could do better than that…. maybe I will have her re-create that drawing and post it here later for comparison…. anywho…moving on.
So the 13 year old drew that pic, teacher comes along . “She said, ‘You can’t draw that – that’s offensive.’” Obviously dumbfounded the kid says “wha-wha-WHAT??”
apparently some other kid in the class drew a sketch of Obama (I am sure it was amazing) and the teacher LOVED IT!!! (of course she did) and long story short the kids parents made phone call over to FOX news and VOILA!!! National headlines!
I WONDER if the Obama picture had been the one found offensive how much different the story would be? The teacher would have been thrown in gitmo and the girl would have recieved a Nobel Peace Prize is our guess.

I think it’s so sad that a government institution–public schools–fails to teach our children about their country. It’s pathetic that US history in general, and the constitution and bill of rights specifically, are glazed over and regarded as politically incorrect. Kids are taught anti-American propaganda and instead, they learn to respect the cultures of different countries and racial minorities. They can celebrate diversity but can’t celebrate and be proud of their own heritage. Patriotism has become terrorism.

I wonder…Dya think FOX might have embellished a little? Wait…Do you think a 13 year old might have embellished a little? Maybe the offense was that it was clearly a lazy effort, not worthy of a grade in the class. MAYBE the assignment was to artistically express a culture other than your own–and the student was Hispanic! *gasp* And the teacher was offended that the student wouldn’t consider the USA her/his own culture.

Elle – it’s not about this one incident, it’s about the NUMEROUS well documented incidents of this same type of PC mentality. Christmas, Easter, the Flag – they have all become issues in one way or another. For what? To what end? It is a shame that I feel a minority at times in believing the core values that make us all Americans. We are a melting pot for sure, but the American way has always been to assimilate and work toward a common, tangible goal. Why the divisive, faux anarchist and ill meaning minority seem to be in charge of the bullhorn now I will never understand. In a different enviroment, this would have not even made the local news, but normal, salt of the earth Americans have thier hackles raised just for this type of issue.
Should you maybe give some thought to the fact that there may be a bigger picture, a more incidious problem than you have considered? Who is Snooky?
